The student: The Messenger of Allah, as-salamu alaykum. This is a lesson from the Noble Prophet’s Mosque for His Eminence Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen, on the day of Thursday, corresponding to the 19th, the night of the 20th, of the month of Rabi’ al-Akhir, 1416 AH, after the Maghrib prayer.
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the righteous, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment.
As-salamu alaykum. It is customary to begin the meeting by discussing whatever is available from the interpretation of what we heard in the Maghrib recitation. However, since this is the night of Friday, we should speak about some of the characteristics of this great day. This great day is Friday, the day Allah the Exalted made a festival for the week. No day has the sun rise or set upon it that is better than Friday, considering the days of the week. And the best day upon which the sun has risen is the Day of 'Arafah, considering the days of the year. This day is the day of the festival, which Allah bestowed upon this Ummah, while the Jews and Christians were led astray from it. So the Jews have the Sabbath, and the Christians have Sunday, and they were led astray from Friday, in which Allah completed the creation of the heavens and the earth. For Allah the Exalted created them in six days, the first of which was Sunday and the last of which was Friday. In it, the creation of Adam began; Allah created Adam on Friday. In it, he was brought out of Paradise and sent down to the earth, so the beginning of the creation of mankind is Friday. In it, the Hour will occur, so the end of creation is also Friday. When? The end of creation will be on Friday. It is a great day, and for this reason, it is distinguished by rulings, of which we will mention whatever is available.
