What is the ruling on a man who enters the state of ihram from the miqat but does not remove his sewn garments until he reaches Makkah?

The Shaykh : This is the last question.
The questioner : A man says that he entered the state of ihram from the miqat, but he did not remove his sewn garments until he entered Makkah for some reason. What is the ruling?
The Shaykh : The ruling is that he has committed a sin. It is obligatory for one who has entered the state of ihram to remove the shirt and whatever the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade. This man must repent to Allah for his disobedience, and he must pay an expiation by fasting six days: three days for covering his head and three days for wearing the shirt or the like. If he had worn leather socks, then three more days. He may slaughter a sheep in Makkah and distribute it to the poor. He may also feed six poor people in Makkah, giving each poor person half a sa' (a dry measure of about 3 kg). But what is easiest for him here is to pay the expiation by what? By fasting. This is what the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) said regarding one who wears sewn garments or covers his head.
And with this, this short session ends. I ask Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) to place goodness and blessing in it, and to grant us and you righteous deeds and a good, abundant provision. Indeed, He is capable of all things. And all praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds. And glory be to You, O our Lord, and praise be to You. I testify that there is no deity but You. I seek Your forgiveness and I repent to You.
