Is the sin multiplied in Makkah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : The questioner asks: Is a sin in Makkah equal to one hundred thousand sins?

The Shaykh : There is no power and no strength except with Allah. A sin in Makkah is one sin. The evidence is the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, in Surat al-An'am—and it is a Meccan surah—:
Whoever comes [on the Day of Judgement] with a good deed will have ten times the like thereof [to his credit], and whoever comes with an evil deed will not be recompensed except the like thereof; and they will not be wronged. من جاء بالحسنة فله عشر أمثالها ومن جاء بالسيئة فلا يجزى إلا مثلها وهم لا يظلمون
[Al-An'am 6:160]
. However, the punishment for a sin in Makkah is more severe than its punishment elsewhere. You know the difference between "more severe" and "more numerous." The difference between more severe and more numerous is that the former is stronger in intensity, while the latter is greater in quantity. Everyone knows that if a man strikes his son with a whip with a light blow, and strikes a dog with a whip with a strong blow, the blow is one, not more, right? It is one. But there is a difference between them. Therefore, the punishment for a sin in Makkah is more severe than the punishment for a sin elsewhere. But the sin itself is one. What is reported about Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and him) that he left Makkah and said:
I will not remain in a house where its good deeds and its bad deeds are equal لا أبقى في بيت حسناته وسيئاته سواء
. This is a lie, a lie attributed to Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and him). Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good.
