Mentioning the worldly and hereafter rulings that follow for one who abandons prayer.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And there follow from its disbelief many rulings: rulings in this world and rulings in the hereafter.
As for the rulings in this world: it is not permissible for anyone to marry him while he does not pray, no matter what his condition is, even if he is of good character, generous, noble, and maintains family ties. But if he does not pray, it is not permissible to marry him, even if he fasts Ramadan while not praying. We do not marry him, even if he performs Hajj to the House while not praying; we do not marry him. Why? Because he is what? A disbeliever. And Allah the Exalted said regarding the disbelievers:
And if you know them to be believers, then do not return them to the disbelievers; they are not lawful [wives] for them, nor are they lawful [husbands] for them
[Al-Mumtahanah 60:10]
. Then, his fasting while he does not pray is not accepted by Allah, because one of the conditions for the acceptance of fasting is that the one fasting is a Muslim. The same is said regarding Hajj and charity.
Second: If he marries while he is praying, then he deviates and becomes one who does not pray, it is obligatory to separate him from his wife, and she should not remain with him unless he returns to the Islam from which he exited by abandoning prayer.
Third: If he dies, we do not wash him, we do not shroud him, we do not pray over him, and we do not bury him with the Muslims. Rather, we take him out to a desert, dig a hole for him, and lower him into it so that people are not bothered by his smell and his relatives are not bothered by seeing him. And with this, I warn the family of the deceased, if they know that he does not pray, I warn them not to bring him to the Muslims to pray over him, because the prayer of a Muslim over a non-Muslim is forbidden.
Allah the Exalted said:
And do not pray [the funeral prayer, O Muhammad], over any of them who has died - ever - or stand at his grave. Indeed, they disbelieved in Allah and His Messenger and died while they were defiantly disobedient.
[At-Tawbah 9:84]
.
As for the rulings in the hereafter: he will be gathered with Pharaoh, Haman, Qarun, and Abu Jahl, and he will abide eternally in the Fire of Hell, may Allah protect us from that, and the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit him.
If someone were to ask: Is it permissible for his relatives or others to supplicate for him with mercy and forgiveness? The answer is: The answer?
It is not permissible. Why? Because Allah said to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him):
It is not for the Prophet and those who have believed to ask forgiveness for the polytheists, even if they were relatives, after it has become clear to them that they are companions of Hellfire. ما كان للنبي والذين آمنوا أن يستغفروا للمشركين ولو كانوا أولي قربى من بعد أن تبين لهم أنهم أصحاب الجحيم
[At-Tawbah 9:113]
.
If someone were to ask: How is that, when Ibrahim sought forgiveness for his father? The answer is: Allah answered this issue by saying:
And the request of forgiveness of Abraham for his father was only because of a promise he had made to him. But when it became apparent to Abraham that his father was an enemy to Allah, he disassociated himself from him. Indeed was Abraham compassionate and patient.
[At-Tawbah 9:114]
.
And when the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sought permission from his Lord to seek forgiveness for his mother, He did not grant him permission. And when he sought permission from his Lord to visit her grave, He granted him permission. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) visited his mother’s grave, but he did not seek forgiveness for her, because Allah the Exalted prevented him from doing so. And this is established.
And after this, abandoning prayer is a serious matter. And the one who abandons prayer should review his mind and return to his religion before death overtakes him, so that his outcome is bad, may Allah protect us from that. This is one of the stops regarding prayer.
The second stop: Prayer is a connection between the person and his Lord. Prayer is a connection between the person and his Lord. For this reason, it is called "Salah" (prayer) from "wasl" (connection). And what indicates this is what is established in the Sahih from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
God most high had said, “I have divided the prayer into two halves between me and my servant قال الله تعالى : قسمت الصلاة بيني وبين عبدي نصفين
