The Shaykh : And he (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2551Sahih (Darussalam) What is the prayer before the sunrise?
The student: Fajr.
The Shaykh : And before the sunset?
The student: 'Asr.
The Shaykh : Before the sunset, 'Asr, my brother. This is a great reward if we maintain these two prayers along with maintaining the other prayers. What is this reward? What is it, O people? It is the seeing of Allah (Mighty and Majestic)Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2554Sahih (Darussalam). And this comparison is to establish the reality of seeing Allah (Mighty and Majestic), not to liken Allah to the moon. Far be it, no. Indeed, Allah the Exalted is not like anything. But the seeing was compared to seeing to establish it, because no one doubts seeing the moon. But never let it enter your heart that the Lord is likened to the moon. The evidence is [Ash-Shuraa 42:11]. Never let likening enter your heart at all.
It is our creed that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) is seen on the Day of Resurrection with a true seeing by the eye in the Garden of Delight. We ask Allah for the pleasure of seeing His Noble Face. It is a true seeing. But if we see our Lord (Mighty and Majestic)—and we ask Allah for that—will we comprehend Him? No, we do not encompass Him, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Al-An'am 6:103].
Indeed you shall be placed before your Lord and you shall see Him as you see this moon. You will see Him without trouble. So if you are able to keep from becoming overwhelmed from prayer before the rising of the sun and before its setting, then do so.
إنكم سترون ربكم كما ترون القمر ليلة البدر لا تضامون في رؤيته فإن استطعتم أن لا تُغلبوا على صلاة قبل طلوع الشمس وصلاة قبل غروبها فافعلوهاThe student: Fajr.
