What are the deeds that, if a person performs them before or after supplication, ensure that the response is certain?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, what are the deeds that, if a person performs them before or after supplication, ensure that the response is certain? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : The most important thing for the acceptance of supplication is sincerity to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and truthfulness in turning to Him, and that a person calls upon his Lord while feeling that he is in need of Him (Glorified and Exalted is He). It is also important to avoid eating what is forbidden, because eating what is forbidden is one of the obstacles to the acceptance of supplication, as established in the authentic hadith:
Allah is Good and He therefore, accepts only that which is good إن الله تعالى طيب لا يقبل إلا طيباً
Sahih Muslim 1015
And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned:
a person who travels widely, his hair disheveled and covered with dust. He lifts his hand towards the sky (and thus makes the supplication): "O Lord, O Lord," whereas his diet is unlawful, his drink is unlawful, and his clothes are unlawful and his nourishment is unlawful. How can then his supplication be accepted? الرجل يطيل السفر أشعث أغبر يمد يديه إلى السماء: يا رب! يا رب! وملبسه حرام، ومطعمه حرام، وغذي بالحرام، فأنى يستجاب لذلك
Sahih Muslim 1015
.
If a person is truthful in turning to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and in his need for Him, and is sincere to Allah and avoids eating what is forbidden, then he is likely to be answered.
And let him know that if Allah (Mighty and Majestic) does not answer a servant in his supplication, then Allah the Exalted stores it for him on the Day of Resurrection, or He averts from him an evil that is greater than that. The one who supplicates to his Lord is in a good state under any consideration, so let him supplicate to his Lord and hope for a response, and let him not despair of the mercy of Allah.

The questioner : May Allah bless you.
