O esteemed Shaykh, do sins and disobedience prevent Allah from answering His servant?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Do sins and disobedience prevent Allah from answering His servant?
The Shaykh : The effects of sins are bad; they may stand between a person and accepting what the Messenger brought, and they may stand between him and repentance, as the Exalted said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:49]. Sins drag one another along, just as good deeds call one another to follow. It is obligatory for the servant, when he commits a sin, to hasten to repent so that its bad effects are lifted from him. Otherwise, a sin may drag him into another, then into another, then into another, until his heart is sealed over, may Allah protect us from that, as came in the hadith: . And when Allah seals over his heart, he sees falsehood as truth and truth as falsehood, as Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Mutaffifin 83:12-14]. This means: No, it is not the tales of the former people. But because this person had earned sins and crimes, he darkened his heart with them. These crimes gathered upon the heart, and he came to see the noble, great Qur'an as nothing but the tales of the former people. He did not taste its flavor, and his heart was not illuminated by it, may Allah protect us from that.
The important point is that sins have negative effects, as they say, as they say, upon the heart and the deed. So, O Muslim, rescue yourself from sin by repenting to Allah the Exalted from it. And if your repentance is sincere, Allah will accept your repentance.
The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. The questioner says:

And if they turn away - then know that Allah only intends to afflict them with some of their [own] sins. And indeed, many among the people are defiantly disobedient.
Whoever misses three Friday prayers out of negligence, Allah will seal over his heart.
(12) And none deny it except every sinful transgressor. (13) When Our verses are recited to him, he says, "Legends of the former peoples." (14) No! Rather, the stain has covered their hearts of that which they were earning.
The important point is that sins have negative effects, as they say, as they say, upon the heart and the deed.
