The questioner : A mother has a disabled daughter who has no source of income, so the mother bequeathed a portion of her wealth to her to be received after the mother's death. Has the mother wronged the other sons and daughters with this bequest, O honorable Shaykh?
The Shaykh : Yes, if the mother bequeaths something of her wealth to this daughter, her bequest is forbidden and invalid. If the heirs approve it afterwards, it is executed; if they do not approve it, it is not executed. As for the disabled daughter, her Guardian is Allah the Exalted. So it is incumbent upon us to fear Allah the Exalted in what He has commanded us, and the matter of this disabled daughter is left to Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. However, if she bequeaths to her sons and daughters that they show mercy to this disabled daughter, take care of her, and do not be short with her in financial maintenance, this is a good deed for which she will be rewarded, and her children, whether sons or daughters, will be rewarded if they execute this bequest.
