We hear a lot about miracles, and this man is one of the righteous friends of Allah. Is there any comment on that?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence! We hear about the miracles of some people, and we hear a lot in our country about this matter, that this man is one of the righteous friends of Allah. What is the ruling on that as well?

The Shaykh : Miracles are extraordinary events.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Allah the Mighty and Majestic performs them through the hand of the righteous man as an honor for him, or to establish proof that what he is upon is the truth. So miracles are either for the benefit of the person himself or for the benefit of the religion, but they do not occur except for the pious friends of Allah. Allah the Exalted said:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah
[Yunus 10:62-63]
This is the friend of Allah through whom Allah may manifest miracles that indicate his truthfulness and the correctness of his methodology.
And these miracles existed in the previous nations.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : And they exist in this nation and will continue to exist in it until the Day of Resurrection. Among the miracles of the previous nations is what happened to Mary, the daughter of 'Imran, when she became pregnant with 'Isa, the son of Mary (peace be upon him)
(23) And the pains of childbirth drove her to the trunk of a palm tree. She said, "Oh, I wish I had died before this and was in oblivion, forgotten." (24) But he called her from below her, "Do not grieve; your Lord has provided beneath you a stream. (25) And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
[Maryam 19:23-25]
So you see this miracle: a woman in a desolate place, pregnant, and labor pains came to her. Allah made this food and drink easy for her
your Lord has provided beneath you a stream.
[Maryam 19:24]
And regarding the food, He said:
And shake toward you the trunk of the palm tree; it will drop upon you ripe, fresh dates.
[Maryam 19:25]
A woman in labor, and the woman is weak, is commanded to shake the trunk of the palm tree, not its top. Shaking the trunk does not move the palm tree, but as a miracle for her, the palm tree moved.

The questioner : Allah is the Greatest.

The Shaykh : Then when it moved, fresh dates fell down, ripe and harvested, unaffected by falling to the ground, even though the norm is that when dates fall from a height, they spoil and get torn apart from falling to the ground. But these dates that fell on Mary fell on her as ripe, harvested dates, unaffected by the ground and not torn apart by it
So eat and drink and be contented.
[Maryam 19:26]
meaning, eat and drink and be at ease, without fear or sadness. This is from the miracles.
And among the miracles in the previous nations is what happened to the People of the Cave, young men who believed in their Lord and disliked what their people were upon of associating partners with Allah the Mighty and Majestic. They left the town and took refuge in a cave and slept there. Do you know how long they slept?
three hundred years and exceeded by nine.
[Al-Kahf 18:25]
And while they were sleeping, they did not need to eat or drink or urinate or defecate, and their clothes did not tear, and their hair and nails did not grow, but they remained as they were for all this period. Allah the Exalted turned them to the right and to the left so that the blood would not congeal on the right if they remained on the right always, or on the left if they remained on the left always. Then, they were in a cave
you would see the sun when it rose, inclining away from their cave on the right, and when it set, passing away from them on the left
[Al-Kahf 18:17]
so the sun did not enter upon them, so they did not get hot or spoil from the heat or the cold. And this is a sign from the signs of Allah the Mighty and Majestic, a miracle from the miracles of Allah.
And among the miracles in this nation is what is mentioned regarding 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) that he sent a detachment to Iraq, and over it was a man called Sariyyah ibn Zanim. The enemy besieged him, and it was revealed to 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was preaching to the people on Friday about the condition of this commander. So the people heard him saying: "The mountain, O Sariyyah! The mountain, O Sariyyah!" So Sariyyah heard that and moved the people to the mountain, and he was safe, and the outcome was in his favor. So you see now a clear miracle for 'Umar and for Sariyyah. 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) spoke to the man Sariyyah, and Sariyyah heard his speech, and there was no telephone or telegram, but it is the power of Allah the Mighty and Majestic.
And if you want to know about these miracles, refer to the book of the Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him), the book called: "The Distinction Between the Friends of the Merciful and the Friends of Satan".
And let it be known that many of those who claim to be friends of Allah today, their claim is a lie, because if you investigate his condition, you will find him among the enemies of Allah, not among the friends of Allah. So how can he claim to be a friend of Allah when we see miracles performed through his hands? If someone says: Yes, extraordinary events are performed through their hands, we say: This is from the deeds of the devils, who perform extraordinary events for them in order to mislead people without knowledge, or rather in order to mislead people with knowledge. For this reason, we say: The miracle does not occur except for a friend of Allah, and the friend of Allah is defined by Allah the Mighty and Majestic in His saying:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah
[Yunus 10:62-63]
So if you want to weigh the man and whether he is a friend or an enemy, you must use this verse:
(62) Unquestionably, [for] the allies of Allah there will be no fear concerning them, nor will they grieve (63) Those who believed and were fearing Allah
[Yunus 10:62-63]
If he is a believer and pious, then he is a friend of Allah, otherwise he is a claimant and not a friend. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. We conclude this meeting, Your Eminence Shaykh Muhammad, with a question from the listener 'Abd from Benghazi, Libya, who says.
