The Shaykh : And I send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, the Seal of the Prophets and the Imam of the pious, and upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow them with excellence until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows:
We have listened to what our Imam recited in this prayer, the Fajr prayer, from Surat al-Tawbah, and we will speak about what Allah Mighty and Majestic facilitates regarding some of its verses, namely the saying of Allah Blessed and Exalted is He:[At-Tawbah 9:75-77].
His saying: From whom? From the hypocrites. For this reason, Surat al-Tawbah is called al-Fadhihah (The Exposer) because it exposed the hypocrites, tore off their veils, and clarified their conditions. So his saying means "And of the hypocrites" [At-Tawbah 9:75] [At-Tawbah 9:75], means "If He gives us." Know that the word "ana" (if) can be lengthened or shortened in meaning; it is said "ata" and it is said "ata." The difference between them is that "ata" means "gave" and "ata" means "came." So his saying Blessed and Exalted is He [An-Nahl 16:1] [At-Tawbah 9:75] means "He gave us" [At-Tawbah 9:75]. So they covenanted with Allah regarding two things: a consideration and a consideration in return. The consideration is and the consideration in return is [At-Tawbah 9:75]. And if you wish, say the consideration in return is and the consideration is [At-Tawbah 9:75]. So here there are three things: one from Allah and two from them. The one from Allah is and the one from them is [At-Tawbah 9:75]. So this covenant brings together three things: Allah giving from His bounty, charity, and righteousness. Look at [At-Tawbah 9:76]. The condition from Allah Mighty and Majestic occurred: Allah gave them from His bounty. Did they fulfill what they covenanted with Allah? No. They said, and Allah said about them: . And this is the counterpart of the brother's question? Answer? May Allah reward you? Stand up, stand up, until you say what you have so that we can inform the people?

The Shaykh : What do you have? Why?
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : No, because you are distracted in your heart; you are not with us.
The student: ... .
The Shaykh : I am sorry. Rest. The heart must be present, otherwise what is the benefit? Okay,[At-Tawbah 9:76] is the counterpart of what? The counterpart of his saying , [At-Tawbah 9:76] is the counterpart of [At-Tawbah 9:75]. If they broke the covenant, they did not fulfill what they covenanted with Allah, is that not so? Okay.
We have listened to what our Imam recited in this prayer, the Fajr prayer, from Surat al-Tawbah, and we will speak about what Allah Mighty and Majestic facilitates regarding some of its verses, namely the saying of Allah Blessed and Exalted is He:
(75) And among them are those who made a covenant with Allah, [saying], "If He should give us from His bounty, we will surely spend in charity, and we will surely be among the righteous." (76) But when he gave them from His bounty, they were stingy with it and turned away while they refused. (77) So He penalized them with hypocrisy in their hearts until the Day they will meet Him - because they failed Allah in what they promised Him and because they [habitually] used to lie.
