Discussion of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “A Book We have revealed to you, blessed, so that they may reflect upon its verses and that people of understanding may be reminded,” and the exhortation to learn the interpretation of the Qur'an.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I have previously exhorted my Muslim brothers to learn the interpretation of the Qur'an, because the Qur'an was not revealed for us to worship Allah by reciting it only. Rather, listen to what your Lord says:
[This is] a blessed Book which We have revealed to you كتاب أنزلناه إليك مبارك
[Sad 38:29]
For what purpose?
So that they may reflect upon its verses. ليدبروا آياته
This meaning,
And that people of understanding may be reminded وليتذكر أولو الألباب
this action. That is, so that we may know the meaning and act upon it, not merely to gain reward for its recitation. Gaining reward for recitation is achieved, praise be to Allah, whether you know the meaning or not. However, the fruit of the Noble Qur'an is not obtained except by knowing its meaning.
