Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “The path of those upon whom You have bestowed favor, not of those who have earned Your anger or of those who are astray”

And this is the straight path in which there is no deviation. Allah the Exalted mentioned it in this verse, His saying: [Al-Fatihah 1:7] And those who are astray. Who are these? Those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor are those who knew the truth and acted upon it. Those who have earned the anger of Allah are those who knew the truth but did not act upon it. And those who are astray are those who acted without knowledge; they are ignorant, seeking the truth and seeking worship, but they are ignorant, worshipping Allah without knowledge. Look at how He placed before ? Because their deviation from the path of those upon whom Allah has bestowed favor is more severe, because they deviated with knowledge, and one who deviates with knowledge is more arrogant, more haughty, and subject to a greater punishment than one who deviates without knowledge. And both groups are astray; indeed, both groups are astray, because they are not upon guidance from Allah. And in His saying: there are two readings, likewise joining the hamza and kasrah, meaning [Al-Fatihah 1:7] a seven-letter reading. But I repeat what I said previously: the readings that are not in the mushaf should not be read by the general public, for two reasons, or rather three reasons. The first reason is that when the general public see this great Qur'an, which has filled their hearts with its magnification, if they see it one way and then another, its status will undoubtedly descend in their estimation, because they are common people who do not distinguish.
