The Ruling on Shaving the Head of a Newborn Girl

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner Abdullah Saleh says in this question: I ask the Shaykh to answer my question, which is: Is it permissible to shave the head of a newborn if it is a girl?

Answer:
The head of a girl is not shaved. However, if a person does so for medical reasons due to an illness, there is no harm. Otherwise, her head is not shaved, even in Hajj and 'Umrah; it is only shortened. This is because the hair of a woman is a source of beauty. But if it is for a medical condition, and the doctor, or the specialized doctor or female doctor, sees that shaving is the treatment, then there is no harm. Yes.
