The questioner : My father was a large merchant, and due to the trust placed in him, many people used to deposit money with him as a trust. Suddenly, everything turned into the opposite...

The Shaykh : To me?

The questioner : To the opposite; the situation reversed, and my father became poor. One of the people who were demanding money from my father passed away. I am certain that he had money with my father. The heirs demanded the trust, but my father refused. The matter went to court, and my father insisted that there was no trust belonging to him, belonging to the deceased (may Allah have mercy on him), because there was no proof at the time. He says, “I was young then.” Now, praise be to Allah, I work in the Kingdom, and my situation is excellent, praise be to Allah. I wish to pay what is owed by my father, but unfortunately, I do not know the location or address of these heirs. I want to clear my father’s conscience. What do you advise us to do? May Allah reward you.

The Shaykh : If you do not know these people or their location, then give charity on their behalf. Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) knows them and will convey their right to them. Yes.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. This questioner, Abd al-Rahman from the Noble City of Makkah, says: May peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you, O honorable Shaykh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen (may Allah preserve you).

The Shaykh : And upon you be peace, and Allah's mercy and blessings.

The questioner : He says.
