Benefits of the Hadith: (… He would sleep at the beginning of the night and stay awake at the end of it. Then, if he had a need regarding his family, he would attend to it and then sleep. When it was time for the first call…)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this hadith, there is a benefit, which is that she referred to the adhan as the first call. So what is the second call?
The student: The iqamah…

The Shaykh : The iqamah. In this is evidence of the error of those among some students of knowledge who assumed that the saying “Prayer is better than sleep” is only for the adhan that occurs at the end of the night. They said this because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said
When the first adhan is called for the Fajr prayer, say: “Prayer is better than sleep.”
Sunan ad-Daraqutni 3:15
This is an error, because the adhan that occurs at the end of the night is not for the Fajr prayer, but rather, as the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said, it is to wake the sleeper and return the one who is standing. The adhan for the Fajr prayer does not occur except after the time has entered, due to the generality of the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)
when the time for prayer comes, one amongst you should announce Adhan
Sahih Muslim 674a
and one does not attend to prayer except when the time has entered. This indicates to us that a person must be careful in his ruling so that he gathers the evidence from all its aspects, and not rush. Because they assumed that his saying
When the first adhan is called for the Fajr prayer
they assumed that this is the call that occurs at the end of the night, and the common people call it the first adhan. But this adhan is not prescribed, as it appears from the Sunnah, except in Ramadan, where Bilal used to give the adhan at night, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said
To return your one who is standing and wake your one who is sleeping. So eat and drink until you hear the adhan of Ibn Umm Maktum, for he does not give the adhan until the dawn appears.
.
And in it is also evidence of the frankness of the Companions, where Aisha, who is of high status in this matter, said
If he then wished intercourse with his wife, he satisfied his desire
Sahih Muslim 739
, he says “And I know what you want”, yes, and you also know what you want?
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : Yes, we all know what you want, but she used a euphemism for it by calling it a need.
And in it is also that a person should jump up when getting up from sleep, meaning he should get up quickly, because if he gets up slowly, what happens?
The student: ... .

The Shaykh : He goes back to sleep. And many people, if they get up slowly, even if they hear the alarm clock, yes, if they get up slowly and hear the alarm clock, they end up between wakefulness and sleep, then they doze off, or perhaps they fumble and turn off the alarm. Yes, but if he gets up with force and a jump, sleep flies away from him. Perhaps you will try this tonight, if Allah wills, so that you can tell us about the result tomorrow. And with this, the time is over.
