The questioner : I have left my father and my mother for a long time, and that is for the following reasons. First, and this is the most important: my brothers are all young adults, but they do not pray, and all the corrupting forms of amusement are present with them. My father and my mother have advised them, and I have advised them, but to no avail. Second: I want to get married, if Allah wills, soon, and the house is very small. As you know, they say: it is not permissible for my wife to be uncovered in front of my brothers. Am I sinful when I left my father and my mother? And if I am sinful, what must I do? May Allah reward you with good.
The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them in excellence until the Day of Judgment:
Before answering this question, I offer advice to the questioner's brothers, whom he described as not praying and having all the corrupting instruments of amusement with them. I say to them, may Allah guide them: You were not created in this world in vain to enjoy yourselves as livestock enjoy themselves, but you were created to worship Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). The greatest of acts of worship after tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and testifying to the message is the ritual prayer, for it is the pillar of Islam. Whoever establishes it and preserves it, Allah will preserve his religion for him, and it will be a cause for his protection from indecency and what is wrong, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:[Al-'Ankabut 29:45]. Neglecting it is among the causes of misguidance, destruction, and misery. Neglecting it is disbelief that expels one from the religion, according to the stronger opinion among the scholars, based on the indications of the Book, the Sunnah, and the statements of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them). Neglecting it is a cause for the constriction of the soul, the constriction of the chest, and the constriction of provision. For this reason, Allah the Exalted said: [Taha 20:132]. Neglecting it is a cause for neglecting other acts of worship, because whoever neglects his prayer, despite its importance, lightness, and small quantity, is even more neglectful of what is besides it. Neglecting it by leaving it entirely is a cause for the rejection of other righteous deeds. That is because no righteous deed is accepted from a disbeliever until he believes. So if it were that this man who leaves prayer fasted, or gave charity, or performed Hajj, or performed 'Umrah, his fasting, his charity, his Hajj, and his 'Umrah would not be accepted from him, as Allah the Exalted said: [At-Tawbah 9:54].
So I say to these about whom their brother mentioned what he mentioned: Fear Allah in yourselves, and fear Allah in your mother and your father and your brother, and fear Allah in your community, for your sins may be a calamity for the entire community, as Allah the Exalted said:[Al-Anfal 8:25].
Then, after that, I say to the questioner: If you cannot change the evil in the house and get rid of it, such that the house is small and you cannot be alone in a room or chamber, then it is obligatory for you to leave the house, whether you marry or not. But if your staying in the house allows you to get rid of the evil, and your staying is a relief and an expansion of the chest of your father and your mother, then stay in the house and reduce the evil as much as you can. Perhaps your continued advice to your brothers will be a cause for the removal of the evil.

and establish prayer. Indeed, prayer prohibits immorality and wrongdoing
وَأَقِمِ الصَّلاةَ إِنَّ الصَّلاةَ تَنْهَى عَنِ الْفَحْشَاءِ وَالْمُنْكَرAnd enjoin prayer upon your family [and people] and be steadfast therein. We ask you not for provision; We provide for you, and the [best] outcome is for [those of] righteousness.
And what prevents their expenditures from being accepted from them but that they have disbelieved in Allah and in His Messenger and that they come not to prayer except while they are lazy and that they do not spend except while they are unwilling.

Then, after that, I say to the questioner: If you cannot change the evil in the house and get rid of it, such that the house is small and you cannot be alone in a room or chamber, then it is obligatory for you to leave the house, whether you marry or not.
