Continuation of the explanation of the hadith: (The first thing we begin with on this day is that we pray, then we return and slaughter. Whoever does so has hit the mark of our Sunnah . . . )

The Shaykh : We are discussing the rest of the hadith. When a person feels the saying of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him): When he feels that he is sacrificing and that he has hit the mark of the Sunnah of the Muslims, he finds honor and pride in himself. He becomes one of those who have hit the mark of the Sunnah of the Muslims from the time of their Prophet to their own time. This is a great merit. If you were to offer multiples of multiples of the value of this sacrifice, this description would not be true of you. This makes clear the great status of the sacrifice in the sight of Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Now, is it taken from his saying: that a person should personally slaughter his own sacrifice? It may be taken, and it may not be taken. However, there is no doubt that a person personally slaughtering his own sacrifice is better and more in accordance with the Sunnah. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) sacrificed with his own hand; he slaughtered his sacrifice with his own hand. In fact, he slaughtered sixty-three camels from his hady. Yes, and he gave the rest to Ali. This is evidence that what a person should do is personally slaughter the sacrifice with his own hand. Now, it is known that one should slaughter with the right hand. That is clear. Now, if one does not know how to slaughter with the right hand, does he slaughter with the left? He slaughters with the left. But on which side does he lay it down? On the right side. Because it is difficult for him and causes distress to the animal if he slaughters it with the left hand while it is lying on its left side. So he slaughters it while it is lying on its right side. And if he wishes to turn it over to the left side, there is no harm after the slaughter, because that is certainly more comfortable for it. If he slaughters it while it is lying on its right side.
