Explanation of the Book of Fitnahs and Rulings-03b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Sulayman ibn Harb narrated to us, Hammad ibn Zayd narrated to us from Ayyub from Nafi' who said:
Narrated Nafi`: When the people of Medina dethroned Yazid bin Muawiya, Ibn `Umar gathered his special friends and children and said, "I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, 'A flag will be fixed for every betrayer on the Day of Resurrection,' and we have given the oath of allegiance to this person (Yazid) in accordance with the conditions enjoined by Allah and His Apostle and I do not know of anything more faithless than fighting a person who has been given the oath of allegiance in accordance with the conditions enjoined by Allah and His Apostle , and if ever I learn that any person among you has agreed to dethrone Yazid, by giving the oath of allegiance (to somebody else) then there will be separation between him and me."
Sahih al-Bukhari 7111

The Shaykh : His statement:
If he says something to a group of people and then goes out and says the opposite of it إذا قال عند قوم شيء ثم خرج فقال بخلافه
This is a form of treachery, and the greatest treachery is what happened to these people when the people of Madinah deposed Yazid ibn Mu'awiyah. Yazid had been left in charge by his father, but he had in him open sinfulness, disobedience, and some injustice that caused people to rebel against him, including the people of Madinah, for they deposed his pledge of allegiance. There is no doubt that this was an error on their part, for it is not permissible to depose the pledge of allegiance of the imam except with what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us of:
Unless we see clear disbelief regarding which we have proof from Allah إلا أن نرى كفرا بواحا عندنا فيه من الله برهان
For this reason, the great calamity befell the people of Madinah because of this deposition that occurred from them.
Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) condemned this and clarified that this is treachery and that
For every traitor a banner will be set up on the Day of Resurrection ينصب لكل غادر لواء يوم القيامة
Sunan Ibn Majah 2873Sahih (Darussalam)
and that they had pledged allegiance to Yazid on the pledge of Allah and His Messenger. He said: "I do not know of any one of you who deposed him or pledged allegiance to another in this matter but that the outcome between me and him will be [severance]" meaning I will sever ties with him and boycott him.
