The reciter: And Yahya ibn Yahya narrated to us, saying: I read to Malik, from Nafi', that 'Abd Allah ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both):
He went out during the fitnah intending to perform 'Umrah and said: "If I am prevented from the House, we will do as we did with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)." So he went out and declared his intention for 'Umrah and traveled. When he appeared over al-Bayda', he turned to his companions and said: "There is no difference between the two commands. I bear witness that I have made Hajj obligatory for myself along with the 'Umrah." So he went out until he reached the House, where he circumambulated it seven times and walked between al-Safa and al-Marwah seven times, adding nothing to that. He considered it sufficient for him, and he offered a sacrificial animal.
