The Shaykh : This chapter clarifies that it is not permissible for a woman to refuse when her husband asks her to have intercourse with him. It also provides evidence that the right in this matter belongs to the man; he is the one who asks for the woman. But if he asks her, is it permissible for him to refuse while he is able? It appears that it is not permissible for him to do so, but he does not deserve this threat. I said that because of the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-Baqarah 2:228] So if she asks, and there is no harm to the man, it is obligatory for him to respond. As for if she is asked, it is obligatory for her to respond. But if she refuses, the angels curse her until morning, may Allah protect us from that. It also provides evidence of the angels’ knowledge of the deeds of the son of Adam, for they will not curse her unless they know that she has refused. Two matters are excluded from this: The first is if she is in a state of harm, such as if she is ill, or pregnant and close to giving birth, or if it would prevent her from an obligation, such as if he calls her and the time for prayer has become narrow. In that case, it is not obligatory for her to respond. The first is for physical harm, and the second is for religious harm. Yes.
The Reciter: Ibn Abi Umar narrated to us, saying: Marwan narrated to us from Yazid, meaning Ibn Kaysan, from Abu Hazim from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said…
The Shaykh : Here it says, “If a woman spends the night…” I explained the hadith as meaning if the man calls her. If a woman spends the night refusing her husband’s bed, the apparent meaning of the hadith is that whether he called her or not, if she refuses his bed, she deserves this curse, may Allah protect us from that, whether he called her or not. And this is more severe than if he called her. If he calls her, the obligation upon her becomes even stronger. Yes.
And due to the wives is similar to what is expected of them, according to what is reasonable
