Benefits of the Hadith: (When a man calls his wife to his bed and she refuses to come, and he spends the night angry...)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In the hadith of Abu Hurayrah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "When a man comes to his wife" to the end of it:
It is derived from this: that the matter of sexual intercourse belongs to the husband, based on his saying:
If a husband calls his wife to his bed
Sahih al-Bukhari 3237
.
Among its benefits: that it is recommended to use euphemisms for what one is shy to mention explicitly, by using what indicates it, as he said:
When he calls his wife to his bed
, because the intended meaning of this call is known, and it is not intended that he called her to his bed to spread it for him or clean it for him or the like of that; one should use euphemisms for what one is shy to mention explicitly by using what indicates it.
Among its benefits, among the benefits of this hadith: that a woman’s failure to respond to her husband’s call to his bed is among the major sins, because a punishment is attached to it, which is the cursing of the angels upon her or the anger of Allah upon her.
Among the benefits of that: that this is conditional upon the man spending the night angry; but if he appeases her and she is pleased, then this punishment is removed. This is derived from his saying:
And he spends the night angry
.
Among the benefits of this hadith: affirming the angels and that they are employed either in cursing humans or in making supplication for them:
As for cursing humans, it is as you have heard.
And as for making supplication for them, it is as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Those [angels] who carry the Throne and those around it exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him and ask forgiveness for those who have believed, [saying], "Our Lord, You have encompassed all things in mercy and knowledge الذين يحملون العرش ومن حوله يسبحون بحمد ربهم ويؤمنون به ويستغفرون للذين آمنوا ربنا وسعت كل شيء رحمة وعلماً
[Ghafir 40:7]
This is in the Qur'an.
And in the Sunnah, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Regarding the one who performs ablution in his house and perfects the ablution, then goes out to the mosque, and nothing takes him out except prayer, then prays when he enters the mosque, what is written for him, then sits waiting for the prayer, the angels pray for him as long as he is in his place of prayer, saying: O Allah, have mercy on him, O Allah, forgive him, O Allah, have mercy on him
.
Among the benefits of this hadith: affirming that Allah the Exalted is in the sky, based on his saying:
the One Who is in the heaven
Sahih Muslim 1436c
, and the fact that Allah is in the sky is among the essential attributes by which He has always been and continues to be described. As for His rising above the Throne, it is among the action attributes related to His will, because if He had willed, He would not have risen above the Throne, and if He had willed, He would not have created the Throne at all. And if He rises above the Throne, if He had willed, He would not have risen above it. For this reason, some scholars, indeed some students of knowledge, err when they say: that when Allah performs an action attribute, it becomes an essential attribute. This is an error, because the action attribute is related to His will in both bringing it into existence and leaving it; if He had willed to leave it, He would have left it, if His wisdom required that He leave it. As we say regarding the descent to the lowest heaven, when does it remain? The student: The last third of the night.

The Shaykh : When the dawn breaks, does it?
The descent ceases; Allah is not descending when the dawn breaks; Allah is not descending to the lowest heaven.
Among the benefits of this hadith: affirming the anger of Allah Mighty and Majestic, based on his saying:
He was angry with her
.
And anger is among the action attributes, because every attribute of Allah that has a cause is an action attribute. The point is that an attribute dependent on a cause does not exist unless the cause exists; therefore, it is related to the will and becomes an action attribute.
If someone were to say: You said that the matter of sexual intercourse is entrusted to the husband. What do you say if the wife requests it and he refuses her, and she becomes angry? Does he deserve this warning?
The answer: No, the husband does not deserve this warning. Yes, but it is obligatory for the husband to treat his wife with kindness, and to have intercourse with her according to what is customary. This varies according to the woman, according to the man, and according to the person’s condition. The busy person is not like the person who has free time, and the sick person is not like the healthy person. And so we say:
The woman has a right to request intercourse, but it is not like the right of the man. The man is the one who has the authority in this matter, but she also has a right. Yes.
