The Book of Faith-02a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Mahmud ibn Ghaylan narrated to us, saying: I said to Abu Dawud al-Tiyalasi: "You have narrated extensively from 'Abbad ibn Mansur, so why did you not hear from him the hadith of the perfumer that al-Nadr ibn Shumayl narrated to us?" He said to me, "Be silent. I met Ziyad ibn Maysun and 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Mahdi, and we asked him, saying to him, 'What about these hadiths that you narrate from Anas?' He said, 'Do you not see a man who sins and then repents? Does Allah not accept his repentance?' We said, 'Yes.' He said, 'I have not heard from Anas, whether a little or a lot. If the people do not know, then you two do not know that I did not meet Anas.' Abu Dawud said: Then it reached us later that he was narrating, so I and 'Abd al-Rahman went to him, and he said, 'I repent.' Then he continued to narrate, so we left him.".

The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah. I say this is a show-off. When the trustworthy ones came to him, he would say, "I repent," and when they left, he would narrate.
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
We have previously mentioned that if one of you were to take these names from this introduction and record what was said about each of them, that would be good, so that when he encounters one of them in a chain of narrators, he would already know the status of that man.
