The questioner : This letter reached us from al-Qaw‘iyyah, from its presenter, ‘Abd Allah ibn Bati al-Husayn. He says in his letter that he performed the obligatory Hajj several years ago, and praise be to Allah, he performed all the obligations and pillars of Hajj, except that on the second day of the days of the festival, he was unable to throw the pebbles at the pillars on this day, and that was due to the crowding. Truly, his second question, because he says, “And secondly,” completing the first question.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : He says, “And secondly, that I went to al-Masjid al-Haram to perform the Tawaf of Hajj, but I was unable to return to Mina on that day except at a late hour of the night, and that was due to the severe crowding, which prevented me from throwing the pebbles of that day except on the third day. What is the ruling on that? May Allah guide you?”

The Shaykh : The ruling on that is that there is nothing wrong with it; there is nothing wrong with what you did. If you were unable to throw on the first day and threw on the second day, then there is no blame on you. However, if you had thrown when you arrived at Mina at night, that would have been better and more excellent than delaying it to the second day.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : Because the night follows the day in throwing, especially if there is an excuse such as crowding, hardship, or delay in Makkah, or the like. So if you had gone to the pillars and thrown them at night when you arrived in Makkah, that would have been more appropriate than delaying them to the second day.

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : But in any case, what you did is sufficient, if Allah wills.

The questioner : If Allah wills.
