The Shaykh : The "mumilāt" (those who incline) are many among our contemporary scholars. The "mumilāt" are those with the inclined comb. The earlier scholars mentioned this.

The questioner : But the practice is now widespread in this manner.

The Shaykh : And if it is widespread now, many things are widespread. The one who has authority over his wife prevents her.

The questioner : The difference is from the side.

The Shaykh : From the side, yes.

The questioner : And the mention?

The Shaykh : The mention is not with us; it never separates. It does not separate.

The questioner : And if it separates from the side, is it prevented?

The Shaykh : It is prevented. Yes, sound.

The questioner : May Allah forgive you, O Shaykh. There are several countries, O Shaykh, where if he walks, the woman walks behind him, and she walks in front of him, and the boy becomes with the men.

The Shaykh : Yes, you do not know that she is a lady?

The questioner : Yes

The Shaykh : You do not know that she is a lady?

The questioner : ... with the people of the other countries, and they are the women, their humility... this, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : This speech is according to fitrah (innate natural disposition), perfect. They may Allah bless you, they see that the woman is preferred over the man. Therefore, in their addresses, they say "My ladies and my gentlemen." Yes. And people came wanting to imitate them, so they wrote on the doors of the bathrooms "Ladies' Bathrooms" and "Men's Bathrooms." They did not say "Gentlemen," so they wronged the poor men. The time is over. Are there no questions?
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in his book *Iqtida' al-Sirat al-Mustaqim*: "And Abu al-Shaykh also narrated with his chain of narration, from Muhammad ibn Qays and Sa'd ibn 'Abd al-Rahman ibn Hubban, who said:
Some people from Banu Taghlib entered upon 'Umar ibn 'Abd al-'Aziz, wearing turbans in the style of the Arabs. They said, "O Commander of the Faithful, include us with the Arabs." He said, "Who are you?" They said, "We are Banu Taghlib." He said, "Are you not from the middle of the Arabs?" They said, "We are Christians." He said, "Bring me a rope." He took hold of their forelocks, removed the turbans, and tore a span from each man's cloak to use as a belt. He said, "Do not ride on saddles.
"
.

The Shaykh : Do you have the tearing of the cloak or not? Who? It appears his intention is to tear a span from it. Yes.
The reader: "
And he said, "Do not ride on saddles, but ride on the akf, and let your legs hang from one side only." وقال : لا تركبوا السرج ، واركبوا على الأُكف، ودلوا رجليكم من شق واحد
"
.

The Shaykh : Do you know this? The saddles are known. The akf are called by us the watharah or the wathirah. It is a term for something like a pillow placed on the back of the horse, then tied around its belly... or on the donkey like a saddle blanket. As for his saying:
Let your legs hang from one side only. دَلوا أرجلَكم من شق واحد
, his intention is that one leg should not be on one side and the other on the other side, but both legs should be from one side. Yes.
The reader: Let your legs hang.

The Shaykh : Ah?
The reader: Let your legs hang.

The Shaykh : "Your legs" is correct. The plural is more eloquent, but the dual is permissible. Yes.
