Explanation of the Book of Purification-10

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : He said: "And from 'Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the description of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) ablution, he said:" "And he wiped his head once" "It was narrated by Abu Dawud, and it was narrated by al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i with a sound chain of narration; indeed, al-Tirmidhi said: It is the most sound thing in this chapter" Wiped: meaning the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped his head, that is, over his head. However, the preposition "bi" (with) here is used in place of "ala" (on) to indicate that the wiping encompassed the entire head, for "bi" implies comprehensiveness, as in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
perform Tawaf around the ancient House." وليطوّفوا بالبيت العتيق
[Al-Hajj 22:29]
The head is well known; it is the place where hair grows. As for the neck and the forehead, they are not part of it. And his saying "once" means a single wipe. This does not contradict 'Abdullah ibn Zayd, who comes after him, for the purification of the head was made lighter due to the hardship of washing it. If it were washed, it would be a hardship for the person, especially in the days of winter, when water would run down his face, neck, and clothes. Therefore, it was made lighter, and praise be to Allah. Then it was made a single wipe because complete devotion is achieved by it. It is not fitting to say that repetition is sought in a place where the original purification was made lighter; therefore, it should not be repeated. For this reason, the scholars said: There is no repetition in any part that is wiped.
