Continuation of the commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “And no bearer of a burden” (soul) “shall bear the burden of another” (soul), meaning it shall not carry it. “Then to your Lord is your return”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Yes, he says:
He approves it for you; and no bearer of burdens will bear the burden of another يرضَهُ لكم ولا تزِرُ وازِرَةٌ وزر أخرى
[Az-Zumar 39:7]
The author said in the tafsir: “
and no bearer of a burden ولا تزر
soul
shall bear the burden وازرة وزر
soul
of another أخرى
meaning it shall not carry it”
and no bearer of a burdenولا تزر وازرة
No.لا
is a negation, and
bearer of a burdenوازرة
is the subject, and it is an indefinite noun in the context of negation, so it encompasses every bearer of a burden. But what is the meaning of the bearer of a burden? The bearer of a burden is the one who carries the sin and commits it; this is the bearer of a burden. Accordingly, one who has not reached puberty is not a bearer of a burden. Why? Because he does not carry the sin. And one who has reached puberty but did not commit the sin is not a bearer of a burden. So the bearer of a burden means the one who is capable of bearing the burden, and that is the accountable soul. If we want to say a bearer of a burden in reality, we say: it is the one who committed the sin. So
bearer of a burdenوازرة
here includes the bearer of a burden in terms of ruling, and it may also include the bearer of a burden in terms of action; the bearer of a burden in ruling and in reality. The bearer of a burden in ruling is the one who is capable of sin, meaning the one who can bear the burden even if he did not commit the burden. The bearer of a burden in reality is the one who committed the sin. An example of this is: a man who has reached puberty and is sane, but he is righteous; we say: this is a bearer of a burden in ruling. And another man who committed zina or stole; we say: this is a bearer of a burden in action, if he has reached puberty and is sane. Now, this is the secret in Allah saying:
no bearer of burdens ولا تزر وازرة
[Al-An'am 6:164]
and He did not say “No soul shall bear the burden of another,” but He said: “No bearer of a burden shall bear,” because one who is not a bearer of a burden does not bear anything, neither for himself nor for another.
no bearer of burdens ولا تزر وازرة
[Al-An'am 6:164]
Now,
the burden of another وزر اخرى
means the sin of another soul, and the meaning of
No soul bears the burden of anotherلا تزر
is that its burden does not attach to it, meaning the sin. For this reason, the author explained it by saying: “meaning it shall not carry it” A bearer of a burden does not carry the burden of another.
Then he said:
Then to your Lord is your return ثم إلى ربكم مرجعكم
Thenثم
means after the gratitude of the grateful and the disbelief of the disbeliever, the return is to Allah alone.
Then to your Lord is your return ثم إلى ربكم مرجعكم
, and in this sentence there is a restriction of the path? The advancement of what should be delayed, because his saying:
to your Lordإلى ربكم
is a predicate advanced, and
your returnمرجعكم
is a subject delayed. And his saying:
Then to your Lord is your return ثم إلى ربكم مرجعكم
And his saying:
to your Lord is your return إلى ربكم مرجعكُم
When? On the Day of Resurrection. But know that everyone who dies has his Resurrection occurred, because he has moved from the abode of action to the abode of recompense. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in al-'Aqidah al-Wasitiyyah: “And of faith in the Last Day is faith in everything the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed about that will happen after death” even though what happens after death is before the Hour, but whoever dies has his Resurrection occurred. Yes,
Then to your Lord is your return, and He will inform you about what you used to do ثم إلى ربكم مرجعكم فينبِّئُكم بما كنتم تعملون
[Az-Zumar 39:7]
He informs youينبئكم
informs you, but it has been said that the news (naba') is only for the great matter, unlike the report (khabar) which can be for trivial matters. And some scholars said: they mean the same thing. And his saying:
Then He will inform you of what you used to doثم ينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون
Sunan al-Bayhaqi 17:1097
whatبما
notما
is a relative pronoun meaning "who," and its referent is omitted, and it is the object in his saying:
You do. تعملون
meaning what you used to do. And the relative pronoun
notما
, indeed all relative pronouns, indicate what? Generality. They indicate generality. And the proof that relative pronouns indicate generality is His saying, the Exalted:
And the one who has brought the truth and [they who] believed in it - those are the righteous. والذي جاء بالصدق وصَدَّق به أولئك هم المتقون
[Az-Zumar 39:33]
So He repeated the reference to it as what? Plural, even though it is singular, and this indicates that it indicates generality. So everything we do of good and evil, small and large, past and future, Allah the Exalted will inform us of it, meaning He will tell us about it. And contemplate the subtlety and kindness where He said:
He informs you ينبئكم
and He did not say: “He will punish you,” because it is established in the authentic hadith that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, will be alone with His believing servant and will confront him with his sins and say:
You did such and such on such and such a day, and you did such and such on such and such a day عملت كذا في يوم كذا وعملت كذا في يوم كذا
until he admits them, then Allah says to him:
I have concealed it from you in this world, and I am forgiving it for you today قد سترتها عليك في الدنيا وأنا اغفرها لك اليوم
Sahih Ibn Hibban 64:265
Look, brothers, informing without punishment. For this reason He said here:
He will inform you of what you used to do. ينبئكم بما كنتم تعملون
[Al-Ma'idah 5:105]
, then the punishment follows the informing, and it is a promise upon him, and the punishment follows
Indeed, Allah does not forgive association with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills إنَّ الله لا يغفر أن يشرك به ويغفر ما دون ذلك لمن يشاء
[An-Nisa 4:48]
For this reason, the disbelievers are not informed of their deeds as the believer is informed, meaning that Allah is alone with him and covers him and confronts him with his sins with him alone. Rather, they—seeking refuge in Allah—are called out in the presence of all witnesses—
These are the ones who lied against their Lord." Unquestionably, the curse of Allah is upon the wrongdoers. هؤلاء الذين كذبوا على ربهم ألا لعنة الله على الظالمين
[Hud 11:18]
And Allah knows best. Yes.
