Issue: One who vows to slaughter his son, what is obligatory upon him and how does he expiate?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : What is obligatory upon one who vows to slaughter his child?
The student: He slaughters a sheep.

The Shaykh : Slaughtering a sheep is one of the opinions, following the example of Ibrahim (peace be upon him) when he was commanded to slaughter a great sacrifice.
The second opinion is that he expiates with the expiation of an oath, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
and whoever vows to disobey Allah, let him not disobey Him. من نذر أن يعصي الله فلا يعصه
Sunan Ibn Majah 2126Sahih (Darussalam)
Slaughtering the child is a sin, so he expiates for it with the expiation of an oath. This is the school of thought and the correct one.
As for the story of Ibrahim, it was not a vow. Ibrahim was obligated by Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and was ransomed with a great sacrifice by Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). There is a difference between the two. The correct view is that one who vows to slaughter his son is not permitted to slaughter him, and he owes the expiation of an oath. Yes.
