Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Isma'il narrated to us, saying: Malik ibn Anas narrated to me from his uncle, Abu Suhayl ibn Malik, from his father, that he heard Talhah ibn 'Ubayd Allah say: Sahih al-Bukhari 46.
The Shaykh : This is also part of Islam, namely zakah, based on Jabir's report about the man: "Until he drew near, and then it was found that he was asking about Islam." He said: "Five prayers are Islam." He said: "And fasting in Ramadan." He said: "And zakah." So zakah is part of Islam.
And this is a matter in which there is no doubt, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2609Sahih (Darussalam).
And His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Bayyinah 98:5] meaning they were not commanded with anything except this. However, worship: everything that Allah has commanded is worship, and He, Glorified and Exalted is He, has stipulated two conditions in it: sincerity, and that they be Hanif, meaning followers. These are the two conditions in every act of worship: sincerity to Allah, and following the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
The opposite of sincerity is shirk (associating partners with Allah), and the opposite of following is bid'ah (religious innovation). So worship is not accepted with shirk, nor with bid'ah.
And His saying:Sunan an-Nasa'i 458Sahih (Darussalam) The exception here is disconnected, not connected, because voluntary acts are not obligatory, and it is not required for a person to do voluntary acts; rather, it is a sunnah (recommended practice).
Here prayer, fasting, and zakah are mentioned, and Hajj (the major pilgrimage) remains. Hajj was not made obligatory until the ninth or tenth year, according to the stronger opinion. This is what caused it to be omitted in some hadiths. Yes.
A man from Najd with unkempt hair came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and we heard his loud voice but could not understand what he was saying, till he came near and then we came to know that he was asking about Islam. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "You have to offer prayers perfectly five times in a day and night (24 hours)." The man asked, "Is there any more (praying)?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, but if you want to offer the Nawafil prayers (you can)." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) further said to him: "You have to observe fasts during the month of Ramadan." The man asked, "Is there any more fasting?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, but if you want to observe the Nawafil fasts (you can.)" Then Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) further said to him, "You have to pay the Zakat (obligatory charity)." The man asked, "Is there any thing other than the Zakat for me to pay?" Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) replied, "No, unless you want to give alms of your own." And then that man retreated saying, "By Allah! I will neither do less nor more than this." Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "If what he said is true, then he will be successful (i.e. he will be granted Paradise)."
The Shaykh : This is also part of Islam, namely zakah, based on Jabir's report about the man: "Until he drew near, and then it was found that he was asking about Islam." And this is a matter in which there is no doubt, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family):
Islam is based upon five: the testimony of La Ilaha Illallah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, the establishment of the Salat, giving the Zakat, fasting (the month of) Ramadan, and performing Hajj to the House.
