Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And in these hadiths as well is the fact that jihad without Islam does not benefit its doer, because the man who sought permission from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
O Messenger of Allah, shall I fight and then embrace Islam? Or shall I embrace Islam and then fight? He said: Embrace Islam and then fight. يا رسول الله أجاهد ثم أسلم؟ أو أسلم ثم أجاهد؟ قال: أسلم ثم جاهد
So he embraced Islam and then fought. And so it is with all righteous deeds; Islam is a condition for them. Allah does not accept from anyone charity, or freeing a slave, or fasting, or anything else while he is not a Muslim. So if we see, for example, a man who does not pray, but he fasts a lot, gives a lot in charity, is cheerful with people, and has good morals, but he does not pray, then know that every deed he does will not benefit him on the Day of Resurrection. Even his fasting: he fasts Ramadan but does not pray, so he has no fasting. He performs Hajj but does not pray, so he has no Hajj. In fact, it is forbidden for him; if he goes to Mecca while he does not pray, it is because Allah says:
O you who have believed, indeed the polytheists are unclean, so let them not approach al-Masjid al-Haram after this, their [final] year يا أيها الذين آمنوا إنما المشركون نجس فلا يقربوا المسجد الحرام بعد عامهم هذا
[At-Tawbah 9:28]
So Islam is a condition for every act of worship; no act of worship is accepted except with Islam, and no act of worship is valid except with Islam. And success is from Allah.
