Continuation of the benefits of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “Those who carry the Throne and those around it glorify the praise of their Lord and believe in Him and seek forgiveness for those who believe. Our Lord, Your mercy and knowledge encompass all things. So forgive those who have repented and followed Your path, and save them from the punishment of the blazing Fire.”

The Shaykh : For this reason, we find that Allah mentioned the heavens without pillars and did not mention bearers for them, whereas for the Throne, bearers are mentioned, even though the One who holds the heavens and the earth from splitting apart is capable of holding the Throne without bearers. But this is a matter of what? It is a matter of magnifying and highlighting its honor and greatness.
And among the benefits of this verse is that there are angels around this Throne, and that they are numerous. We may derive their multitude from His saying:
and those around it ومن حوله
It is as if everything is around the Throne. Then, what is around the Throne? Is it measured by a distance of ten meters, or twenty meters, or a hundred meters, or a thousand meters? It is said that “around” in every place is according to its scale. For example, the earth is small compared to the Throne, and what is around a person on it does not exceed ten meters. Perhaps we can say that those around you are those who hear your ordinary speech. But as for those around the Throne, we do not know; they may be vast areas known only to Allah.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is the magnification of those who carry the Throne and those around the Throne for the Lord, Mighty and Majestic, as He said:
exalt [Allah] with praise of their Lord and believe in Him يسبحون بحمد ربهم ويؤمنون به
[Ghafir 40:7]

And among its benefits is purifying Allah, Mighty and Majestic, from every deficiency and from being likened to the created beings. If it is said that being likened to the created beings is a deficiency, why do we say “and from being likened to the created beings”? Should we not suffice with saying “purifying Allah from deficiency”? We say: No. What we mean by purifying from deficiency is that His perfect attributes are purified from deficiency. His strength is not affected by deficiency
And We did certainly create the heavens and earth and what is between them in six days, and there touched Us no weariness. ولقد خلقنا السماوات والأرض وما بينهما في ستة أيام وما مسنا من لغوب
[Qaf 50:38]
His knowledge is not affected by deficiency
in a record. My Lord neither errs في كتاب لا يضل ربي
[Taha 20:52]
He does not become ignorant
nor forget ولا ينسى
So what we mean by deficiency is that His perfection is not affected by deficiency. As for denying likeness, it is because Allah explicitly denied it, so we should follow the Qur'an in this and say that He is purified from being likened to the created beings.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is describing Allah, Mighty and Majestic, with perfection and bestowing favors, as He said:
with the praise of their Lord بحمد ربهم
Because praise is describing the one praised with perfection and bestowing favors. Allah is praised for His perfection, as in His saying:
[All] praise is [due] to Allah, who created the heavens and the earth and made the darkness and the light الحمد لله الذي خلق السماوات والأرض وجعل الظلمات والنور
[Al-An'am 6:1]
And similarly, as in His saying:
And say, "Praise to Allah, who has not taken a son and has had no partner in [His] dominion and has no [need of a] protector out of weakness وقل الحمد لله الذي لم يتخذ ولدا ولم يكن له شريك في الملك ولم يكن له وليا من الذل
[Al-Isra 17:111]
All of this is praise for perfection. And He is praised for His bestowing favors, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah is pleased with His slave who says: 'Al-hamdu lillah (praise be to Allah)' when he takes a morsel of food and drinks a draught of water. إن الله ليرضى عن العبد يأكل الأكلة فيحمده عليها ويشرب الشربة فيحمده عليها
Riyad as-Salihin 1396
This is praise for bestowing favors. So, the perfection of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, and His bestowing favors are derived from His saying:
with the praise of their Lord بحمد ربهم

And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the perfection of perfection is by denying deficiency or by combining the denial of deficiency with the affirmation of perfection. The perfection of perfection is to combine denial and affirmation in perfection. This is derived from
glorify يسبحون
This is the denial of deficiencies.
with the praise of their Lord بحمد ربهم
This is affirmation. So, the perfection of perfection is by combining denial and affirmation.
And among the benefits of this noble verse is the virtue of the angels who carry the Throne and those around it. Where do you take this from? ...
The attribution of Lordship to them, for this is from the specific Lordship
exalting [Allah] with praise of their Lord يسبحون بحمد ربهم
[Az-Zumar 39:75]
And it is, as the brothers indicated, from several aspects: Allah’s exclusive selection of them to carry the Throne, their glorification with the praise of Allah, and the attribution of Lordship to them.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that the angels are obligated, as He said:
and they believe in Him ويؤمنون به
The indication is that if they were not obligated, they would not have performed what they were obligated to do, and they would not have deserved praise for their faith. If this had been from their nature and disposition, there would have been little benefit in praising them for it. And it indicates that they are obligated by the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And [mention] when We said to the angels, "Prostrate before Adam"; so they prostrated, except for Iblees. He refused and was arrogant وإذ قلنا للملائكة اسجدوا لآدم فسجدوا إلا إبليس أبى واستكبر
[Al-Baqarah 2:34]
And there is no doubt that all of Allah’s servants who have understanding and intellect must be obligated.
And among the benefits of the noble verse is that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has made the angels subservient to the believers by seeking forgiveness for them. And it is not the angels in general, but the angels who are brought near, as He said:
and ask forgiveness for those who have believed ويستغفرون للذين آمنوا
[Ghafir 40:7]

And among the benefits of the noble verse is the encouragement to have faith so that you are included among those for whom the angels seek forgiveness. All of faith is good, all of it is joy, all of it is a blessing in the heart and a blessing in the body. Even the trial that befalls the believer is good for him. For this reason, we say: Strive to realize your faith by doing the means that grow this faith, nourish it, and strengthen it.
