Continuation of the commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: “And the plot of the disbelievers is only in error” — destruction.

Then Allah the Exalted said: "
But the plan of the disbelievers is not except in error. وما كيد الكافرين إلا في ضلال
[Ghafir 40:25]
destruction "
. "Ma" is a negation, and "kayd" (plot) is the subject, or should we make it the noun of the negation? "Kayd" is the subject, and it is not correct to make it the noun of the negation, because one of the conditions for "ma" to function as a negation is that the negation not be negated. Ibn Malik said:
With the preservation of the negation and the arrangement of the "z"
If the negation is negated, then it does not function as "ma" does. There is much of this in the Noble Qur'an:
This is not but a human like you ما هذا إلا بشر مثلكم
and he did not say "ma hadha illa basharan" (this is not but a human) because the negation was negated. So "ma" is a negation, and "kayd" is the subject. What is the "kayd" of the disbelievers? "Kayd," "makr" (stratagem), "khi'da'" (deception), and similar words are all close in meaning; they mean reaching the point of causing one's opponent to fall without him realizing it. That is, one reaches the point of causing one's opponent to fall by hidden means that the opponent does not perceive, because the one who plots, the one who schemes, and the one who deceives does not do things openly like this, but by hidden means. So it means reaching the point of causing one's opponent to fall without him realizing it, i.e., by hidden means. The disbelievers have a great plot; they plot against Islam, and they are not plotting for Islam, because there is a difference between plotting against something and plotting for something. Allah the Exalted said:
Thus We did to Yusuf كذلك كدنا ليوسف
and He did not say
Toward... على
but plotting against the enemy is called plotting against him. The disbelievers have a plot against the messengers; they plot a great plot, and they do every cause by which they refute the argument of the messengers. But whatever they do, Allah Mighty and Majestic says:
not but in error إلا في ضلال
[Ar-Ra'd 13:14]
their plot is in error, i.e., in destruction and loss. Just as the one who is lost does not find the way, so the plot of these disbelievers does not lead them to their objective.
