Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: “And he who believed said, ‘O my people, indeed I fear for you [the like of] the Day of the Confederation.’”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies - وقال الذي آمن يا قوم إني أخاف عليكم مثل يوم الأحزاب
[Ghafir 40:30]
And he who believed. Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, left the identity of the one who believed ambiguous, for from the beginning of the story
And a believing man from the family of Pharaoh who concealed his faith وقال رجل مؤمن من آل فرعون يكتم إيمانه
[Ghafir 40:28]
the discourse about him has remained in the form of ambiguity, because there is no need to specify him by name, as specifying the name might involve some harm, and the intended point is the meaning and what this story contains.
And he who believed said, "O my people, indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies - وقال الذي آمن يا قوم إني أخاف عليكم مثل يوم الأحزاب
[Ghafir 40:30]
O my people: It is known that when the vocative particle "ya" enters upon a specific indefinite noun, it is built on the dammah, just as when it enters upon a definite noun. Here, it was not built on the dammah, but its end is kasrah. It is said that its original form was "ya qawmi," but the yaa was deleted for the sake of lightness. And in His saying:
O my people يا قوم
He was gentle in his calling to them, although they were hostile to him, for they were disbelievers and he was a believer. But in the context of gentleness in calling to Allah, Mighty and Majestic, he said to them, "O my people."
indeed I fear for you [a fate] like the day of the companies - إني أخاف عليكم مثل يوم الأحزاب
[Ghafir 40:30]
He affirmed the sentence, even though it was settled in his heart, but the one addressed to it did the action of one who denies it.
