Commentary on Tafsir al-Jalalayn: (( The means of the heavens )) their paths leading to them (( So I will ascend )) with the nominative case as a conjunction to ( I will reach ) and with the accusative case as a response to

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The means of the heavens أسباب السماوات
The commentator said: " their paths leading to them
So I will ascend فأطلع
with the nominative case as a conjunction to *ablagha* (I will reach), and with the accusative case as a response to *ibn* "
meaning that there are two canonical readings in it: *fa-atlilu* (So I will ascend) and *fa-atlil* (So I will ascend). As for the reading with the nominative case, it is conjoined to *ablagha*, meaning: Perhaps I will reach the means of the heavens, so I will ascend. And as for the reading with the accusative case, it serves as a response to *ibn*. *Ibn* is a command verb, and the response to a command verb, when it is preceded by the particle *fa* (so), is in the accusative case
So I will ascend فأطلعَ
so the *fa* here indicates causality.
Know that the two readings found in the Noble Qur'an are among the seven letters upon which the Qur'an was revealed. The Qur'an was revealed in seven letters, and when it was the time of 'Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him), it was ordered that the Qur'an be standardized on one letter, which is the letter of the Quraysh, meaning their language. So these existing readings are not the seven letters, but rather they are on one letter.
Second: Know that both readings are authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) because they were transmitted by mass transmission.
Third: Know that it is not permissible for a person to recite before the general public using a reading that differs from the mushafs (written copies of the Qur'an) in their hands, because that causes confusion and disorder and leads to accusing the reciter. Perhaps the greatness of the Qur'an will diminish in their hearts because of this difference. However, between you and yourself, it is better to read with this one sometimes and with that one sometimes, on the condition that you are knowledgeable and not confused. We say this is better because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) read with both of these readings. This is like the acts of worship that are performed in various forms, such as the opening supplications and the tashahhud and the like. But this is between you and yourself, or in the context of teaching if you are teaching students.
that I might reach the ways - (37) The ways into the heavens - so that I may look at the deity of Moses لعلي أبلغ الأسباب فاطلع إلى إله موسى
[Ghafir 40:36-37]
meaning I will reach it and look to see if this is true or not true. Then he retracted out of fear that one of his soldiers might say it is true, so he said: "
And I truly think he وإني لأظنه
meaning Musa
a liar كاذبا
in that he has a God other than Me "
He said this to mislead his companions, and out of fear that something might settle in their hearts when he ordered his minister to build a tower for him. He said:
but indeed, I think he is a liar. وإني لأظنه كاذبا
[Ghafir 40:37]
And Pharaoh is a liar in this statement; he does not think that Musa is a liar.
