Zakah is permissible for a poor wife under a wealthy husband who does not provide for her

Q: I have a sister who is married, and her situation is modest. Is it permissible for me to give her a portion of my zakah to raise her standard of living and help her raise her children, especially since her husband is only concerned with himself, and we have worked hard to improve his situation?

A: If she is poor, her husband does not provide for her, you were unable to improve his situation, and no one was available to compel him to do so, then it is permissible to give her from the zakah the amount of her need.
