Does one give charity on behalf of the days a sick person did not fast before his death?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: My aunt suffered from chronic headaches that would come and go. When they came, she felt severe pain in her head, then she would fall into a deep sleep resembling a coma for 8 to 10 hours, and when we called to her, we could only hear her moaning. She did not fast for a number of days in the past Ramadan, and she passed away a few days ago. What is required of us, her relatives? Do we give charity on behalf of the days she did not fast? May Allah reward you with good.

Answer: If the woman mentioned remained healthy after breaking her fast in Ramadan, able to fast, but did not make up the fasts, then it is prescribed for some of her relatives to make up the fasting she owed on her behalf; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
'A'isha (Allah be pleased with her) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: If anyone dies in a state (that he had to complete) some fasts, his heir must fast on his behalf.من مات وعليه صيام صام عنه وليه
Sahih Muslim 1147
It is agreed upon that it is authentic. The intended meaning of the guardian is the close relative.
