Is it permissible for me to go to Jeddah without performing the farewell tawaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: I am a resident and work in Riyadh, and every year I go to Makkah with my family. It was Allah’s will that I perform Hajj alone, so I sent my wife and children to her parents’ home in Jeddah. When I finished Hajj, I performed the tawaf al-ifadah and the sa’y, and then I descended to Makkah. Is it permissible for me to go to Jeddah (without performing the farewell tawaf) to bring my wife and children, and to stay in Makkah until I travel to Riyadh, where I reside and work?

Answer: It is permissible for you to go to Jeddah to bring your family to Makkah before the tawaf al-ifadah and the sa’y during the days of Mina. You do not have to perform the farewell tawaf until you throw the pebbles on the twelfth day after the sun passes its zenith. If you then wish to leave for Jeddah or elsewhere, you must perform the farewell tawaf if you have already performed the tawaf al-ifadah and the sa’y.
However, if you have not performed the tawaf al-ifadah and the sa’y, there is no blame on you for going to Jeddah to bring your wife to Makkah, and you do not have to perform the farewell tawaf. This is because, in the situation you described, you have not completed the Hajj. The farewell tawaf is obligatory only after completing the rites of Hajj, if the pilgrim intends to travel to his home or elsewhere. This is based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
None of you should depart until his last visit is to the Houseلا ينفرن أحد منكم حتى يكون آخر عهده بالبيت
narrated by Muslim in his Sahih. It is also based on the saying of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father): “The people were commanded that their last visit should be to the House, except that this was made easier for the menstruating woman.” It is agreed upon that this is authentic. The woman with post-natal bleeding is like the menstruating woman; neither of them has to perform the farewell tawaf.
