What should a woman do if menstruation begins after tawaf?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: A Moroccan woman entered Makkah in a state of ihram, and then menstruation began after her tawaf. What is obligatory for her to do?

Answer: This woman has to perform sa'y, shorten her hair, and exit her state of ihram with the intention of 'Umrah. If the Day of Tawriyah arrives, which is the eighth of Dhu al-Hijjah, she enters the state of ihram for Hajj when she goes out to Mina.
However, if she entered the state of ihram for Hajj when she arrived and wishes to remain in her state of ihram for Hajj, she has the choice:
If she wishes, she can perform sa'y while in a state of menstruation, because ritual purity is not a condition for sa'y. If she wishes, she can delay sa'y until she descends from 'Arafah, and then perform sa'y along with the tawaf of Hajj, because by doing so she would have performed Hajj alone (ifrad), and that is permissible. However, making her state of ihram an 'Umrah is better, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) to do when they entered Makkah during the Farewell Pilgrimage. Some of them had entered the state of ihram for Hajj, some for 'Umrah, and some for both together. So he (peace and blessings be upon him) commanded them all to exit their state of ihram and make their state of ihram an 'Umrah, except for those who had sacrificial animals with them.
This is well known in many authentic hadiths. It is prescribed for the believer to seek in his words and deeds in Hajj and otherwise what conforms to the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), and success is from Allah.
