Ruling on Opening a Photography Studio

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I am of Indian nationality and a Muslim by religion—praise be to Allah—and I work here in the Kingdom. I intend to open a photography and document scanning studio in my home country after I return, to earn a living for myself and my family. Is this work lawful or forbidden?

Answer:
Depicting living beings is not permissible; because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
the most grievously tormented people on the Day of Resurrection would be the painters of picturesأشد الناس عذابًا يوم القيامة المصورون
Sahih Muslim 2109a
. It is agreed upon that it is authentic. And because he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
receiving or giving Riba, (usury), and cursed the picture-makers.لعن آكل الربا وموكله، ولعن المصور
Sahih al-Bukhari 2086
. Al-Bukhari narrated it in his Sahih.
So we advise you not to open a photography studio, and you must seek lawful earnings. And Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, says:
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect.وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا. وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ
[Al-Talaq: 2-3]. And He says: :
And whoever fears Allah - He will make for him of his matter ease.وَمَن يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَل لَّهُ مِنْ أَمْرِهِ يُسْرًا
[Al-Talaq: 4]. May Allah guide you to all that is good.
