The Book of Marriage, Breastfeeding, Divorce, Mutual Oath-Swearing, and Manumission-08b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Reciter: And Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to me, and Isma'il narrated to us from Ayyub from Nafi'
That Ibn 'Umar divorced his wife while she was menstruating, so 'Umar asked the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and he ordered him to take her back, then wait for her until she menstruates another period, then wait for her until she becomes pure, then divorce her before touching her. That is the waiting period that Allah ordered for women to be divorced.
He said: "So Ibn 'Umar, when asked about a man who divorces his wife while she is menstruating, would say: 'If you divorced her once or twice, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) ordered him to take her back, then wait for her until she menstruates another period, then wait for her until she becomes pure, then divorce her before touching her. But if you divorced her three times, you have disobeyed your Lord in what He commanded you regarding the divorce of your wife, and she has become unlawful to you.'"
