The reciter: Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us, 'Umar ibn Yunus narrated to us, 'Ikrimah ibn 'Ammar narrated to us, Iyad ibn Salim narrated to me, my father narrated to me, saying:
We went on a military expedition against the Fazarah, and Abu Bakr was in command of us, having been appointed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to lead us. When it was a short distance between us and the water, Abu Bakr ordered us to make camp for the night. Then he launched a raid, and we reached the water. Some were killed, and some were taken captive. I looked at a group of people, among them were children, and I feared that they would get ahead of me to the mountain. So I shot an arrow between them and the mountain. When they saw the arrow, they stopped. I came with them, driving them along, and among them was a woman from the Banu Fazarah wearing a cloak of leather. He said: The cloak is a mat. With her was her daughter, one of the most beautiful of the Arabs. I led them to drink until I brought them to Abu Bakr. Abu Bakr gave me her daughter as a gift. We arrived in Madinah, and I had not uncovered her garment. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me in the market and said: "O Salim, give me the woman." I said: "O Messenger of Allah, by Allah, she has pleased me, and I have not uncovered her garment." Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) met me the next day in the market and said to me: "O Salim, give me the woman. May Allah reward your father with good." I said: "She is yours, O Messenger of Allah. By Allah, I have not uncovered her garment." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent her to the people of Makkah, and they ransomed with her some Muslims who had been taken captive in Makkah.
غزونا فزارة وعلينا أبو بكر، أمره رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم علينا، فلما كان بيننا وبين الماء ساعة، أمرنا أبو بكر فعرسنا، ثم شن الغارة، فورد الماء، فقتل من قتل عليه، وسبى، وأنظر إلى عنق من الناس فيهم الذراري، فخشيت أن يسبقوني إلى الجبل، فرميت بسهم بينهم وبين الجبل، فلما رأوا السهم وقفوا، فجئت بهم أسوقهم وفيهم امرأة من بني فزارة عليها قشع من أدم - قال : القشع : النطع - معها ابنة لها من أحسن العرب، فسقتهم حتى أتيت بهم أبا بكر، فنفلني أبو بكر ابنتها، فقدمنا المدينة وما كشفت لها ثوبا، فلقيني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم في السوق، فقال : يا سلمة، هب لي المرأة ، فقلت : يا رسول الله، والله لقد أعجبتني وما كشفت لها ثوبا، ثم لقيني رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم من الغد في السوق، فقال لي : يا سلمة، هب لي المرأة لله أبوك ، فقلت : هي لك يا رسول الله، فوالله ما كشفت لها ثوبا، فبعث بها رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم إلى أهل مكة، ففدى بها ناسا من المسلمين كانوا أسروا بمكة
