His statement, "I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib": Is this from the category of making a slave of other than Allah?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His statement: "I am the son of 'Abd al-Muttalib." Is this from the category of making a slave of other than Allah?

The Shaykh : Yes, the scholars answered this with one of two approaches:
The first is that this is an exception to the prohibition of making a slave of other than Allah.
The second is that this falls under the category of reporting a fact, not the category of creating a name. What is prohibited is creating the name "slave of Muttalib." However, reporting a fact by saying, "Muhammad ibn 'Abd Allah ibn 'Abd al-Muttalib," is permissible, or "slave of Shams" or something similar, because reporting a fact is not creating a name, and what is forbidden is creating a name.
This opinion is more correct and stronger.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : This opinion supports the view of those who say that 'Abd al-Muttalib is an exception.
