The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said: : This means the index and middle fingers. The index finger is the one between the middle finger and the thumb. It is called the index finger because a person points with it when cursing; if he curses someone, he says "this" and points with it.
It is also called the "sabah" finger because a person also points with it when glorifying Allah. For this reason, a person points with it in his prayer when he sits between the two prostrations.
And what benefits him in his worldly life, such as food, drink, and shelter.
The limit of an orphan is reaching puberty.
And the poor person is the one who is modest: This means the poor person is not the beggar who begs from people, : This means if you give him a mouthful or two, or a date or two, he refuses it. The true poor person is the one who is modest, [Al-Baqarah 2:273] . This is the true poor person; he does not ask and be given, nor is he noticed and given, as the common people say: "A modest, sufficient person" . He is not known for it. This is the poor person whom people should check on, improve his condition, show compassion to him, and have mercy on him.
In this is an indication that the poor person should be patient, wait for relief from Allah, and not beg from people, whether they give or withhold. Because if a person attaches his heart to creation, he is left to them, as it came in the hadith:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2072Da'if (Darussalam) . And if you are left to creation, you forget the Creator. Make your affair with Allah (Mighty and Majestic), attach your hope, fear, reliance, and dependence to Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He), for He will suffice you: [At-Talaq 65:3] : Whatever Allah has commanded, He will accomplish (Mighty and Majestic); nothing prevents it and nothing turns it back.
Therefore, it is obligatory for the poor person to be patient, and it is obligatory for him to refrain from asking people. He should not ask except in extreme necessity. If carrion becomes permissible for him, then asking becomes permissible for him. But before that, as long as he can be modest, even if it is to eat a piece of bread or a split date, he should not ask. And a person keeps asking people, asking people, asking people, until the Day of Resurrection comes and there is not a piece of flesh on his face. He comes on the Day of Resurrection with his face showing bones, and refuge is sought in Allah, with no flesh on it, because he has scraped his face for people in this world.
In this is a condemnation of those people who go back and forth to people asking them, while they are wealthy, very wealthy. When they die, thousands are found with them. There are thousands of gold, silver, old coins, and papers with them. And when you see them, you say: These are the poorest of people. They annoy people with their asking.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) said, in what he quoted from Sa'd ibn Abi Waqqas (may Allah be pleased with him), from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), that he said:
I and the guardian of the orphan are like these two, and he gestured with his index and middle fingers

يَحْسَبُهُمُ الْجَاهِلُ أَغْنِيَاءَ مِنَ التَّعَفُّفِIn this is an indication that the poor person should be patient, wait for relief from Allah, and not beg from people, whether they give or withhold. Because if a person attaches his heart to creation, he is left to them, as it came in the hadith:
Whoever hangs something, he is entrusted to it.
مَن تعلق شيئاً وُكِل إليهAnd whoever relies upon Allah - then He is sufficient for him. Indeed, Allah will accomplish His purpose
وَمَنْ يَتَوَكَّلْ عَلَى اللَّهِ فَهُوَ حَسْبُهُ إِنَّ اللَّهَ بَالِغُ أَمْرِهِTherefore, it is obligatory for the poor person to be patient, and it is obligatory for him to refrain from asking people.
