Continuation of the explanation of the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he quoted: "."

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : And among the uses of the term "khabeeth" (bad) for what is forbidden is His saying in describing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
makes lawful for them the good things and prohibits for them the evil
[Al-A'raf 7:157]
: meaning that the khabeethat (bad things) are forbidden to them, and they are the opposite of the tayyibat (good things), such as carrion, the flesh of the pig, the strangled animal, intoxicants, and the like.
And the meaning of the verse is that only the khabeethat are forbidden, and it does not mean that every khabeeth is forbidden, because as you know now, the term khabeeth is used for multiple descriptions, but the meaning is that only the khabeethat are forbidden upon him (peace and blessings be upon him).
So the conclusion is that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prohibited a person from intending to give in charity from the inferior part of his wealth, and He encouraged spending from what one loves and from what is good.
Then the author mentioned the hadith of Abu Talhah, the husband of Umm Anas (may Allah be pleased with him). Abu Talhah was the one among the Ansar with the most land, meaning: he had the most farms. He had a garden with good water facing the mosque, meaning: the mosque of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), meaning that the mosque was in its qiblah, in the qiblah of this garden, and it had good, sweet water. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) would come to it and drink from it.
So when His saying (the Exalted) came down:
Never will you attain the good [reward] until you spend [in the way of Allah] from that which you love
[Ali 'Imran 3:92]
, he (may Allah be pleased with him) hastened, raced, and rushed, and he came to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah, indeed Allah the Exalted has revealed His saying: "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from what you love." And my most beloved wealth to me is Bayrha'—meaning this garden is named Bayrha'—and I place it: meaning before you as a charity, for Allah and His Messenger:—meaning directing it to Allah and His Messenger—so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said, in amazement: "Bakhi, bakhi"—a word of amazement, meaning how great is this ambition, and how high it is—"That is a profitable wealth, that is a profitable wealth.", and the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) was truthful. This is a profitable wealth. How many good deeds?
The student: Ten times its value.

The Shaykh : Up to seven hundred times, up to many times. If he sold his garden which is worth ten thousand for twenty thousand, they would say it is a profit. This is a great profit. Half is a great profit. But this profits a hundred, a thousand, up to seven thousand, up to many times, up to many times. A good deed is ten times its value, up to seven hundred times, up to many times. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was truthful:
It is useful property. I have heard what you have said (O Abu Talha), and I think it would be proper if you gave it to your Kith and kin.
Sahih al-Bukhari 1461
. I think you should make it for your close relatives: your relatives. So he (may Allah be pleased with him) did so, and he distributed it among his relatives and his paternal uncles' sons.
And the discussion of some of what is derived from this hadith will come, if Allah wills. But be amazed at how the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) would hasten and rush to good. "And Ibn Umar, when he liked something in his wealth, he would give it in charity. When he liked something and his soul attached to it, he would give it in charity. Why? In order to profit from it. He would profit from it by meeting it in what is to come."
But what you hold onto is either going to be removed from you, or you are going to be removed from it, and it is necessary, it is necessary for one of two things to happen: either it is destroyed or you are destroyed. But what you advance is what remains. We ask Allah to help us and you with ourselves and to protect us from stinginess and miserliness.
The truth is that your real wealth is what you advance. "The family of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) slaughtered a sheep and gave part of it in charity. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was presented with it. They said: We ate it except for its shoulder, which we gave in charity. He said: Did you keep its shoulder? The meaning of the hadith does not come to my mind in its wording, but its meaning is: what you ate is what was lost for you, and what you gave in charity is what remained for you."
So the conclusion is that the Companions and those of high ambition are the ones who know the value of this world and the value of wealth, and that what they advanced is what remains, and what they kept is what perishes. We ask Allah to protect us and you from stinginess and miserliness, and from cowardice and laziness, and praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted: "Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) said: كان أبو طلحة رضي الله عنه أكثرَ الأنصار بالمدينة مالاً من نخل، وكان أحب أمواله إليه بَيْرَحاء وكانت مستقبلة المسجد، وكان رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يدخلها ويشرب من ماءٍ فيها طيب، قال أنس: فلما نزلت هذه الآية: لن تنالوا البر حتى تنفقوا مما تحبون ، جاء أبو طلحة إلى رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فقال: يا رسول الله!
Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) was the wealthiest of the Ansar in Madinah in terms of date palms, and his most beloved wealth to him was Bayrha', and it faced the mosque. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would enter it and drink from the good water in it. Anas said: When this verse came down: "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from what you love," Abu Talhah came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said: O Messenger of Allah! Indeed Allah the Exalted has revealed to you: "You will not attain righteousness until you spend from what you love," and my most beloved wealth to me is Bayrha', and it is a charity for Allah the Exalted, and I hope for its goodness and its store with Allah the Exalted. So place it, O Messenger of Allah, where you see Allah placing it. The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Bakhi, that is a profitable wealth, that is a profitable wealth. I have heard what you said, and I think you should make it for your close relatives." Abu Talhah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I will do so, O Messenger of Allah. So Abu Talhah distributed it among his relatives and his paternal uncles' sons.
, agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim."
