Reading the statement of Imam al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) regarding what he transmitted: "

The reader: He said (may Allah have mercy on him): "The chapter on preferring others over oneself and sharing:
Allah the Exalted said:

but give [them] preference over themselves, even though they are in privation

ويؤثرون على أنفسهم ولو كان بهم خصاصة

[Al-Hashr 59:9]

And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive,
