The reader: Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
He said -may Allah have mercy on him- in the context of the verses in the chapter on forbearance, deliberation, and gentleness: " Allah the Exalted said:[Ash-Shuraa 42:43].
And as for the hadiths: From Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Ash'aj ibn al-Qays:Jami` at-Tirmidhi 2011Sahih (Darussalam) narrated by Muslim.
And from Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) she said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sunan Ibn Majah 3689Sahih (Darussalam) agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Sahih Muslim 2593 narrated by Muslim.
And from her (may Allah be pleased with her), that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:Al-Adab Al-Mufrad 27:14 narrated by Muslim ".
The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
Al-Hafiz al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) mentioned in the context of the verses in the chapter on gentleness, forbearance, and deliberation, the saying of Allah the Exalted:[Ash-Shuraa 42:43] : "Sabr" means enduring harm, and "Ghafar" means overlooking it when it befalls him, [Ash-Shuraa 42:43] meaning for those who are resolute in matters, meaning: from the matters that indicate a man's determination and prudence, and that he is capable of controlling himself and mastering it. This is because people are divided into categories regarding their control over themselves:
Some people are unable to control themselves at all.
And some people are able to do so, but with great difficulty.
And some people are able to do so, but with ease; Allah the Mighty and Majestic has created them with noble character, so patience and forgiveness are easy for them.
So the one who endures the harm of people, bears it, and seeks reward from Allah, and forgives them, this is the one who performed this resolute act among matters, meaning: among affairs. And this is a clear encouragement that it is obligatory for a person to be patient and forgive. We have previously detailed the issue of pardoning wrongdoers and aggressors, and that it is not absolutely praised nor absolutely blamed, but rather one looks at what brings about reform.
Then the author mentioned what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said to Ash'aj ibn al-Qays, he said to him:Sahih Muslim 18a Forbearance: When a person is provoked, wronged, and attacked, he shows forbearance, but he is not like a donkey who does not care about what was done to him; he is affected, but he is forbearing and does not hasten with punishment, until if the punishment becomes better than forgiveness, he takes the punishment.
And deliberation: Slowness in matters and not rushing. How often a person is destroyed and stumbles because of rushing in matters, whether in transmitting news, or in judging what he heard, or in other things. For example, some people snatch up news as soon as they hear it, they tell it and transmit it. And it came in the hadith:Riyad as-Salihin 1547.
And some people rush in judgment; they hear something about a person and confirm that he said it or that he did it, then they rush to judge that he erred or went astray or the like of that, and this is a mistake. Deliberation in all matters is good.
Then the author mentioned the three hadiths of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) in the chapter on gentleness, and that gentleness is beloved to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and that it does not enter into anything except that it adorns it, and it is not removed from anything except that it disfigures it. In it is the encouragement that a person should be gentle, gentle in all his affairs, gentle in dealing with his family, in dealing with his brothers, in dealing with his friends, in dealing with the general public, being gentle with them:. For this reason, a person finds that if he deals with people with gentleness, he finds pleasure and expansion of the chest, and if he deals with them with harshness and violence, he regrets it and then says: I wish I had not done it, but after the time has passed. But if he deals with them with gentleness, softness, and deliberation, his chest expands and he does not regret anything he did. May Allah guide everyone to what is good and reform, and to good character and manners.
