Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reader: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful.
Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may prayers and peace be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions:
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted, in the context of the hadiths in the chapter on forgiveness and turning away from the ignorant: "From Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), she said:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant, but only, in the case when he had been fighting in the cause of Allah and he never took revenge for anything unless the things made inviolable by Allah were made violable; he then took revenge for Allah, the Exalted and Glorious.
Sahih Muslim 2328a
Narrated by Muslim.
And from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
While I was going along with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) who was wearing a Najrani Burd (sheet) with a thick border, a bedouin overtook the Prophet (ﷺ) and pulled his Rida' (sheet) forcibly. I looked at the side of the shoulder of the Prophet (ﷺ) and noticed that the edge of the Rida' had left a mark on it because of the violence of his pull. The bedouin said, "O Muhammad! Order for me some of Allah's property which you have." The Prophet (ﷺ) turned towards him, (smiled) and ordered that he be given something.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6088
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him), he said:
It is as if I am looking at the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) describing a prophet from the prophets (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon them), whose people struck him and bled him, and he was wiping the blood from his face and saying: "O Allah, forgive my people, for they do not know."
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim.
And from Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
The strong-man is not one who wrestles well but the strong man is one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage.
Sahih Muslim 2609a
Agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim"

The Shaykh : In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful:
These hadiths were quoted by al-Nawawi (may Allah have mercy on him) in *Riyad al-Salihin* in the chapter: "Forgiveness and Turning Away from the Ignorant." Among them is the hadith of Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her):
That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) never struck anyone, neither a servant nor anyone else, with his hand, except when he was fighting in the cause of Allah.
: This is from his generosity (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) that he does not strike anyone for any of his personal rights, because he has the right to forgive his right and he has the right to take his right. But when the prohibitions of Allah are violated, he (peace and blessings be upon him) is not pleased with that, and he is the strictest in taking action against it, because he (peace and blessings be upon him) does not approve of anyone persisting in what angers Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He. And likewise, a person should strive to be forgiving, and to forgive people's situations and their character, and to turn away from them, except when the prohibitions of Allah are violated, in which case he does not approve of anyone persisting in that.
And among them is: meaning, from the hadiths he quoted, the story of this Bedouin who caught up with the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) while he was wearing a Najrani cloak with a thick border. So he pulled him, meaning: he pulled him with a hard pull until the border of the cloak left a mark on the neck of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) due to the force of the pull. So he turned around and found the Bedouin saying: he was asking him for a gift. So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed and ordered a gift for him. Look at this noble character; he did not reprimand him, nor strike him, nor be harsh with him, nor frown, but rather he (peace and blessings be upon him) laughed, and with this he ordered a gift for him.
