Mourning for Other Than a Husband

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The jurists say: It is permissible for a woman other than a wife to refrain from adornment and wearing her best clothes for three days. What is the correctness of this statement?

Answer: This is correct, and it is supported by an authentic hadith, namely his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
A woman must not observe mourning for one who had died for more than three (days) except for four months and ten days in the case of her husband.لا تحد امرأة على ميت فوق ثلاث، إلا على زوج أربعة أشهر وعشرًا
Sahih Muslim 938c
. It is agreed upon as authentic.
And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
