These are multiple hadiths, all concerning the virtue of jihad in the cause of Allah. Among these virtues is that if a person is killed as a martyr, he will come on the Day of Resurrection with his wound bleeding, its color the color of blood and its scent the scent of musk. The first and last of this Ummah and others will witness this, and indeed the angels will witness it on that witnessed day. This brings him elevation in this world and the Hereafter. Among these virtues is that whoever fights in the cause of Allah, even if it is only the milk of a camel (which is the amount between two milkings), Paradise becomes obligatory for him. If he stands in the ranks and fights in the cause of Allah, so that the word of Allah is the highest, then Paradise becomes obligatory for him. Among these virtues is that the one who goes out for jihad in the cause of Allah has the reward of the one who fasts and stands in prayer from the time he goes out until he returns. The one who fasts and stands in prayer from the time the fighter goes out until he returns is the one who equals him in reward with Allah the Exalted and Majestic. However, that is not something that can be done, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) said, and the Companions said to him. Among these virtues is that Allah has prepared for those who fight in His cause one hundred degrees in Paradise, the distance between each degree and the next being like the distance between the sky and the earth, which Allah has prepared for those who fight in His cause. These hadiths and their like, and they are very numerous, indicate the virtue of jihad in the cause of Allah. Jihad in the cause of Allah is done with wealth and with the self, but it is better and greater in reward with the self, because all these hadiths we have heard are about those who fought with their selves. And whoever fights with his wealth is in good. It is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family)Sunan Abi Dawud 2509Sahih (Al-Albani) meaning that the reward of the one who goes on an expedition is written for him, and the one who stays behind with his family in good. So he has gone on an expedition. We ask Allah, the Exalted and Majestic, to make us and you among those who fight in the cause of Allah seeking His Face. Indeed, He is Able to do all things.
All praise is due to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions.
The author (may Allah have mercy on him) quoted in the context of the hadiths in the Book of Jihad: "From Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him), who said:
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, "Whoever is wounded while fighting in the way of Allah, will come on the Day of Resurrection with blood oozing from his wound having the colour of blood but with the fragrance of musk."
Whoever fought in the cause of Allah - a Muslim man - for the time it takes for two milkings of a camel, then Paradise is obligatory for him. And whoever suffered a wound in the cause of Allah, or he suffers from an injury, then he will come on the Day of Resurrection while (his blood will be) more copius that it ever was, its color the color of saffron, and its scent like that of musk.
One of the Prophet's Companions came upon a valley containing a rivulet of fresh water and was delighted by it. He reflected: 'I wish to withdraw from people and settle in this valley; but I won't do so without the permission of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' This was mentioned to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and he said (to the man), "Do not do that, for when any of you remains in Allah's way, it is better for him than performing Salat (prayer) in his house for seventy years. Do you not wish that Allah should forgive you and admit you to Jannah? Fight in Allah's way, for he who fights in Allah's Cause as long as the time between two consecutive turns of milking a she-camel, will be surely admitted to Jannah."
The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked: "What other good deed could be an equivalent of Jihad in the way of Allah?" He (ﷺ) replied, "You do not have the strength to do it." (The narrator said:) The question was repeated twice or thrice, but every time he (ﷺ) answered, "You do not have the strength to do it." Then he (ﷺ) said, "One who goes out for Jihad in the Cause of Allah is like a person who observes Saum (fasting), stands in Salat (prayer) constantly, recites the Ayat of the Qur'an and does not exhibit any lassitude in fasting and prayer until the participant of Jihad in the way of Allah returns."
Abu Hurairah (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was asked: "What other good deed could be an equivalent of Jihad in the way of Allah?" He (ﷺ) replied, "You do not have the strength to do it." (The narrator said:) The question was repeated twice or thrice, but every time he (ﷺ) answered, "You do not have the strength to do it." The best life is that of the man who holds his horse's rein in Allah's way and flies on its back to the places from whence he hears a war cry or the clatter of arms, seeking martyrdom or slaughter on the battlefield; or that of a person who goes to stay on the top of the hill or in a valley, and there he performs Salat (prayer), pays the Zakat and worships his Rubb till death overtakes him. He has no concern with the affairs of anyone except the doing of good.

Abu Sa'id was amazed by this and said: Repeat it to me, O Messenger of Allah. So he repeated it to him, then said: And another [degree] by which Allah raises the servant one hundred degrees in Paradise, the distance between each two of them being like the distance between the sky and the earth. He said: What is it, O Messenger of Allah? He said: Jihad in the cause of Allah, jihad in the cause of Allah.
