Explanation of Riyad al-Salihin-94a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : As for the second hadith: from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), who said:
Sihun, Jaihun, the Nile, and the Euphrates, each is among the rivers of Paradise سيحون وجيحون والنيل والفرات كلٌ من أنهار الجنة
: These are four rivers in this world, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described them as being among the rivers of Paradise.
So some of the scholars of knowledge said: "They are truly among the rivers of Paradise, but when they descended to this world, the character of the rivers of this world overcame them, and they became among the rivers of this world", because the rivers of the Hereafter are four, the rivers of Paradise,
wherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey فيها أنهار من ماء غير آسن وأنهار من لبن لم يتغير طعمه وأنهار من خمر لذة للشاربين وأنهار من عسل مصفى
[Muhammad 47:15]
, and we do not know the nature or the taste of these four rivers in Paradise, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said about Paradise, about his Lord (Mighty and Majestic) in the Qudsi hadith:
I have prepared for My righteous slaves (such excellent things) as no eye has ever seen, nor an ear has ever heard nor a human heart can ever think of. أعددت لعبادي الصالحين ما لا عين رأت ، ولا أذنٌ سمعت ولا خطر على قلب بشر
Sahih al-Bukhari 7498
.
But Sihun, Jaihun, the Nile, and the Euphrates are known, and also they become stale and change over a long period, so the scholars have two interpretations regarding them:
The first: that they are truly among the rivers of Paradise, but when they descended to the earth, they became subject to the ruling of the rivers of this world.
The second: that they are not truly among the rivers of Paradise, but they are the purest and best of the rivers, so the Prophet (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) mentioned this description of them in the context of elevating their status and praising them, and Allah knows best what His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) intended.
As for his third hadith:
Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, created the earth on Saturday خلق الله التربة يوم السبت
Riyad as-Salihin 1854
to the end of the hadith, this hadith, although Imam Muslim (may Allah have mercy on him) narrated it, the scholars have rejected it from him, so it is a hadith that is not authentic, and it is not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), because it contradicts the Noble Qur'an, and everything that contradicts the Noble Qur'an is invalid, because those who narrated it are human transmitters who make mistakes and hit the mark, and the Qur'an contains no error; it is all correct, transmitted by mass transmission, so whatever contradicts it from any hadith is judged to be not authentic, even if it was narrated by whoever narrated it, because the narrators do not receive directly from the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him), but through the chain of narration: so-and-so narrated to us from so-and-so to the Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him), and these people may make mistakes, but the Qur'an contains no error, so this hadith is among what the scholars of knowledge (may Allah have mercy on them) rejected from Imam Muslim.
And there is nothing strange in that, because man is human, Muslim and non-Muslim, all of them are human who make mistakes and hit the mark, so on this basis, there is no need for us to speak about it, as long as it is weak, it has been sufficient for us, and Allah is the One who grants success.
