Q: My father commits many sins and does not accept my advice, so what should I do?
A: We ask Allah to guide your father and to grant him repentance. We advise you to be gentle with him, to advise him in a good manner, and not to despair of his guidance, due to the saying of Allah, the Exalted:[Luqman 31:14] And if they strive to make you associate with Me that of which you have no knowledge, do not obey them, but accompany them in this world with kindness, and follow the way of those who turn back to Me the verse [Luqman: 14 - 15]
So the Exalted advised giving thanks to the parents along with giving thanks to Him, and He commanded the son to accompany them in this world with kindness, even if they strive to make him disbelieve in Allah. By this, you know that it is prescribed for you to accompany your father with kindness, to be good to him even if he is bad to you, and to strive to call him to the truth, so that perhaps Allah will guide him through your means.
It is not permissible for you to obey him in disobedience. We also advise you to seek help in guiding him through Allah and then through the people of good among your relatives, such as your uncles and others whom your father respects and esteems, so that perhaps he will accept their advice.
We ask Allah for guidance and success for repentance for us, for you, and for him. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the Near.

And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents. His mother carried him, [increasing her] in weakness upon weakness, and his weaning is in two years. Be grateful to Me and to your parents; to Me is the [final] destination.
